May 23, 2015 Greetings! To all our supporters, sponsors, volunteers and participants, I am sad to report that the 2015 Smugglers' Notch Primitive Biathlon will have been the last. Due to unrelated issues with the board of directors of the Smugglers' Notch Area Chamber of Commerce, I am no longer affiliated in any way with the organization, hence the event would not be covered by their liability insurance. The Petersons at Sterling Ridge Resort have offered to cancel any reservations of our participants without a charge but please contact them ASAP so that they can add the accommodations back into their inventory. I will continue to maintain the website for the foreseeable future for archival purposes and to continue to post the dates of events each year. Also, discussions are underway about hosting a replacement event about a half hour east of our traditional site. I will 'spread the word' should that come to fruition. I want to offer all of you my thanks for helping to take the Smugglers' Notch Primitive Biathlon from an idea to a successful event: Sue and Scott Peterson for their support and 'run of the land' from the very beginning; our sponsors along the way - the Vermont Trappers' Association for helping us go the next step in the early days, Green Mountain Rifle Barrel Company of Conway, NH for picking up where the VTA left off, the Ancient Ones of Maine for many years of firearms to give away, Schuetzen Powder, Log Cabin Shop, Ballistol USA, Dixie Gun Works, Embodico, everyone that has contributed to the prize table, and, as I got older, Jack Corse, whose tracked 4-wheeler made set up and tear down much easier. A special thanks to our staff of volunteers who, year after year, would spend the weekend braving whatever Mother Nature threw at them and would do so in good humor. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, thanks to everyone that ever participated in our event - you are the ones that ultimately made the Smugglers' Notch Primitive Biathlon a success and who have enriched my life by our acquaintance.
